If you’re a professional feeling burnt out, the Scandinave Spa Whistler should be on your wellness radar. Of the thirty-some spas I’ve visited, this one is, in a word, amazing!!
Location
A tranquil, nature-infused outdoor sanctuary, the Scandinave Spa is located near the spectacular ski resort of Whistler, British Columbia.
My first visit was a soothing, introspective solo experience as autumn was unfolding. It was a grand finale to a Whistler wellness spaces research trip I was on. I discovered some incredible wellness hotels which I showcased in this video including one about my stay at the stellar Nita Lake Lodge.
Meanwhile, my second experience at Scandinave Spa Whistler was a spring getaway with my if-it’s-about-healthy-living-I’m-in brother.

Amenities
Here’s where you get to quiet your mind and embark on a blissful, silent digital detox as you immerse yourself in the centuries-old tradition of Scandinavian Nordic spas journeying through its hot, cold (I’m talkin’ Canadian prairie freezing cold), and relaxation installations. Spread across 25,000 square feet of hilly, paved landscaped terrain, this spa offers the ultimate self-care experience.

While I found that visitors often lingered in the hot pools, I encourage you to explore Scandinave Spa Whistler’s diverse wellness offerings:
Hot
- Wood burning sauna
- Finnish dry sauna
- Eucalyptus steam baths
- Hot pools
- Thermal waterfall
Cold
- Cold plunge pools
- Nordic waterfall
- Nordic showers
Relaxation
- Hammocks
- Outdoor fireplaces
- Multi-purpose yoga studio
- Solariums
- Lounge beds
- Reading nooks

Wellness Benefits
So, what’s the value in spending several hours and dollars on a visit to this decompression zone? According to science: plenty.
- Saunas and hot pools can be beneficial for your heart, with Finnish saunas specifically shown to reduce the risk of conditions such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory issues. They may also help alleviate musculoskeletal disorders, while enhancing mental well-being, sleep, and longevity.
- Steam baths can improve circulation, reduce inflammation as well as muscle tension.
- When you brave the cold plunges, you’re activating your immune system and helping to reduce muscle damage from exercise, leading to reduced inflammation and soreness.
Plus, the serene environment is ideal for breathwork, reflection, meditation, or prayer.

Massage Therapy
Besides thermal therapy, Scandinave Spa Whistler offers a wide range of massage therapies provided by Registered Massage Therapists, which may be covered by your employer’s health insurance plan. Massage can alleviate a host of health issues including anxiety, depression, insomnia, and digestive disorders. You get your choice of:
- Swedish
- Deep tissue
- Restorative
- Duo
- Prenatal
Reservations are required for massages and recommended for the thermal therapy circuit.

Food & Beverage
A small bistro overlooks the spa offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. They serve salads, wraps, sandwiches, desserts, espresso-based drinks, and cold beverages with options for gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan diets.

When to Go
For the most peaceful experience and decent weather, plan your visit to be between Monday to Thursday and between late May and late September. But the snowy outdoor setting is particularly captivating and popular from late November until late March.
What to Bring
A bathing suit, flip flops and reusable water bottle are all that you need to bring. Towels, padlocks for a locker, and shower products are provided, while robe rentals are available. Some guests bring a book or journal.

Group Discounts
They offer group discounts so why not be a wellness influencer in your family, circle of friends or workplace pals and pitch a fun, memorable self-care getaway? How can they resist?!
Ready to press pause and immerse yourself in this transformative escape? Trust me, your mind and body will thank you.
